It could be one big mess, maybe a one off performance off a ballad, or a track where they fool around with 1D's moves etc. could be okay.

JC and Justin may have sung leads but all Nsync members could sing and were needed. Chris (countertenor) had some verses, Joey (baritone) had one or two but he got some hypeman treatment sometimes and Lance never sung a single solo, he was just the bass.
