I understand queen latifah is an icon...probably more than many ppl here but unity was basic and limited.
By now she needs to focus on regaining fairweathers. Nicki is unlike most female rappers she's extremely polarizing. She needs to channel her experience into lessons learn, expose some vulnerabilities about the past couple of years and be more anthemic with her statements while using her clever wordplay and wordsmith expertise. Queen la and unity was like a foundation. Nicki could do it 10x bigger.
Yall can get mad at this statement bit considering l boogiewas one of the last ppl I used in rap before pop tookover my mind in 1999...lauryn has depth in her soulful r&b with a+ delivery but her raps are b+/a-... Nicki could deliver something better although it would end up underrated.
Lauryn had issues with her "songwriting" claims whereas nicki is so versatile and writes her own rhymes...irv gottis claims in 2010 could be given justice...nicki just has to stop playing.
Still think her real classic won't occur until her 4th era but we will see.
