I agree, but it's because rap is so blunt in comparison to singing. You can say so much more, have so much more meaning behind your words, etc.

I think those are reasons why we have been seeing a lot more artists try to mix the two. I don't really mean artists like Cher Lloyd and even Beyoncé, but artists like Janelle Monáe who generally uses their raps to provide social commentary. Janelle's rapping is reminiscent of Lauryn Hill imo.

This is what I need from Nicki honestly.

Raps that spark social conversations & have depth to the words.

I kind of agreed with the guy (I can't remember his name, I know he is a big name in the industry haha) that said Nicki was our Lauryn Hill, but I have come to realize Janelle is more fit of that title though I believe Janelle is more than just another Lauryn Hill but Lauryn's influence is real.

Nicki could do so much more with talking about social issues if she tried. She is really passionate about stuff like that (such as health care), but she has to learn how to focus a song (or multiple ones) on social issues without sidetracking.

Freedom's chorus + bridge are what I expect for the 3rd album. The verses are corny.

A song that speaks the truth and people can relate to will be good. But not too much. Nicki ain't no Lauryn Hill. It won't feel right if she does that.

That's true and I know I am not expecting all that much from her, but I'd still like a song that is driven by social issues. I wouldn't even mind if Lauryn or Janelle was on the track too to make it more believable. I'd actually prefer it tbh.

Yeah. It's just every time Henry hints at that from her, it's gets to me. Nicki will forever be known for what she's doing now. Of course you can switch it up one point in your career. But that, "I'm showing everyone that I'm still this lyrical ill bitch" stuff doesn't sound like she's going preachy on us anytime soon.
