My 9th grade history teacher (whose class was supposed to emphasize world cultures, so it made sense) spent at least a few days on each of the major religions around the world, which I thought was great. Teaching students the basic principles of each religion, how a lot of religions really say the same things, etc. could lead to a generation with way less ignorance, prejudice, etc.

I think maybe it could be incorporated slightly into History lessons, and that should be enough.

Teaching them as in explaining to them each religion and its different factors and how they differ? Sure.

However, teaching them about nothing but the bible and making them take a class like that in school? Basically, like Sunday School in church? No.

School should always deal with facts. Someone's faith is a personal choice and not something that should be forced upon others.

See, that's where I disagree with it. Everyone doesn't follow the Bible or Christianity. Considering the fact that the United States is a melting pot with numerous different religious backgrounds, I don't think having classes teaching the Bible are right. That's what Bible study is for.

They should offer it as an elective for those that want to learn about it in a strictly historical context. The same way they offered electives on Government, Asian studies, Journalism, etc.

No, public schools shouldn't, I'm still even on the edge of saying the Pledge of Allegiance
