For a 16 year old to say " No I don't want to tour with her even though it would help me gain fans" is very rare and mature and confident in her own work

I do agree that Lorde comes off as a bit pretentious, but I suppose I understand why she didn't want to take this spot. She probably does not want to be associated with such a straightforward pop act, which honestly could probably help her exposure-wise quite a bit so honestly it's probably not the smartest decision if a goal in her career is to have her music introduced to more people. At this point though, she has not established herself longevity-wise (it will be a bit before she properly gets to that point), so I guess time will tell what kind of other decisions she makes and how those aid/hinder her career.

since when is integrity being unprofessional by releasing information that should be disclosed. if she didn't want to open for Katy, she shouldn't have felt the need to talk about declining it. This is why she won't last. Christina Aguilera teas.

I love this girl I don't know any 8-10 year olds that listen to Lorde anyway, so opening for Perry probably wouldn't have done anything for her.

i respect her even more now ..no shade to katy i lover her music but her tour isn't the best way for introducing lorde to a bigger audience . She know's her target audience and that audience doesn't usually attend a katy perry concert
