What are the songs that you feel are overused on talent shows such as American Idol, X Factor, The Voice etc. It can be either songs performed by contestants or background music.

Mines is Leona Lewis's "Footprints In The Sand". They use this song every year on the X Factor, and it always plays out like this:

"And it's a yes from me"
"AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH PROMISE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU"

Anything by Adele.

All that means is that it's a classic.

Omg I hate that song that plays ALL THE TIME in the background of X Factor when a contestant with a sob story gets through. "And I will run..."

I used to live in the Philippines and they used to sing "I Will Always Love" on talent shows all the time

What about for the sob stories, they ALWAYS play Cyndi Lauper's intro to True Colours

Adele songs.

"You Raise Me Up" & "Hallelujah"... LIKE SERIOUSLY!

And for girls, "I Will Always Love You"... hands down.

Another one is Beyoncé's "Listen". It's like the only Beyoncé song they ever sing on those shows

Agreed. This definitely has to be one of the songs that the judges get tired of hearing.

I'd like to add that while I respect all real vocalists on these types of shows, you can be an amazing vocalist, and STILL not measure up to Beyoncé. So, attempt "Listen" by all means when auditioning/competing, but you better make sure that you've honed your skills until there is nothing else to learn because until then, Beyoncé is the only one who should be singing this song. Sure, it's nice to hear fresh interpretations on televised talent shows...but "Listen" was recorded by one of the finest modern-day musicians! It's obviously great that these people have confidence in themselves, but they shouldn't overestimate themselves.
