And yes, it's real. Cats can "bark", but only tend to do it when they're in heat/have a hoarse throat.

Also, bengal cats (the domestic cats that have leopard spots on them) very frequently "bark". I only know this because I am determined to get a Bengal very soon, hah. So this cat might even be a bengal mix.
