I think releasing promo singles from major artists is not so good idea... It will be a mess if there will still be first single and two singles on iTunes and radio... and then she will release ANOTHER single as a second proper one

Also, why aren't promo singles (or countdown singles) a good idea? Most artists are doing it nowadays, and it's helped them in their first week.

Is this actually going to be a single or is just going out to radio to promote the iTunes release? I know "TEOG" (before it was made an official single) and "Hair" were both sent out to radio before Born This Way came out.

Yes, it's helping but it is rather for new artists, not for major ones like Katy... I mean... it's good when they want to have album sales but it may backfire with singles and it will be a mess. Obviously, let's hope it won't turn out to be that way.
