Yeah, some people call him cheesy and I don't blame them for that, but it's exactly like you say. Bruno sang about catching a grenade, throwing himself in front of a train, etc. and no one saw anything wrong with it.

Luckily Lorde's opinion doesn't reflect that of the GP, and I don't think a lot of people are even gonna see that interview let alone care what she thinks.

If Bruno devoted entire portions of his album to "Grenade"-type songs, people would say things about him, too. People talked about Justin Timberlake when he made those songs about Britney Spears. No one is immune.

Jeez, she's had one big, surprise hit single in the US, NZ and Australia (even one hit wonder Gotye did better than that but it's still a good achievement, of course). Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Let's await the true litmus test of possible longevity, namely the follow up single and, even more importantly, the album.
