No, Lorde is not a 30 year old women singing children's songs.
Lorde is 16 years old and she has better lyrics than half of the singers at this point (if not more) so she shouldn't be compared with Carly. Lorde should last.
Call Me Maybe completely destroyed Carly before she had a chance to catch on, it was just too big and successful. CMM was bigger than CRJ, she didn't stand a chance. Royals is a more manageable hit, as long as she releases a decent follow-up Lorde will be fine.
carly rae was famous all around the world, lorde only in the US.
Yes. Lorde, a girl from New Zealand, who smashed in Australia MONTHS ago, and is in the top portion of the charts in Denmark, The Netherlands, Canada, and lawd knows what other countries, is only famous in the US.
I think she might fare a little better than Carly because Carly was so teeny bopper and an obvious one hit wonder. People were trying to make something out of nothing, Carly had no identity. Lorde has an appeal that I think is broader than Carly and shes a little more interesting however she could very well be a one hit wonder too, but it wouldn't be as obvious a one hit wonder as Call Me Maybe. CMM just screamed "this will be my only hit"
