If Apple is making 64bit OS's it won't mean jack **** until is uses more than 2GB of RAM meaning eventually, maybe sooner than later, it's gonna use more than 2 GB of RAM, making it the greatest phone ever and 4GB wont be too much anymore. SO yes, it's a marketing ploy.

Exactly my thoughts.

I doubt they will keep it at 1GB of ram considering the iPhone 4S also has 1GB and they like to bump the hardware per "S" release.
I'm pretty sure Apple isn't stupid enough to build a 64 bit phone but not have enough ram to use it.
Then again, I stopped buying Apple products in 2010 so I'm not sure of their latest specs.

Not sure about 2 GBs but let's make Apple experiment. IMO 4 GB of RAM is the safest.
But since iOS is very efficient I think they could squeeze in 2 GBs of RAM and still give a lag free experience. I'm not sure about Android. Samsung needs to really dig deep before doing such a bold move. Android is not really the most efficient Mobile OS out there. With their current OS, they still are having a hard time battling the lag on their devices. Why not focus on that first?
