Twitter with shareholders means a less interesting, less innovative Twitter. Ads, pay features, etc. must be in the pipeline.

Maybe it's time for a Twitter clone to take all the users that will leave now.

If Twitter gets bought by terrible people who are focused on money and not people's entertainment.. Twitter will fall hard like Myspace..

That's not true at all, the big income of Twitter comes from data sharing with big companies.

Also this could be great, it's more money to invest in things like Twitter Music and many other things in which Twitter could expand.

It just means they'd like a bit more money (capital), a bit immediately and maybe some more in the future, and they're going to "sell off" some ownership to make it happen. They will be publicly traded on a stock market. That's all you can deduce from that message.

Absolutely nothing will happen to your current Twitter accounts in the short term, no worries .

Twitter is a major case study when you're in business school - because they don't really have the "how to make money from Twitter?" really pinned down. They have proven that they're capable of making money through sponsored tweets and trends, but there's still more to go. They are oozing with potential.
