Exactly. The whole point of getting her on board is to make the show more popular.
One of the main problems so far has been that the British viewer didn't warm up to judge Jessie J - they thought she was too whining and not warm and sassy/sexy enough and all that - her fans think it is due to sexism, not sure how much of that is true) but anyways, in any case she got flack for all kind of stuff and basically got hounded out of the show and quit. That got the other judges upset and they also threatened to quit - Danny eventually did quit while Will almost went as well - he was negotiating with American Idol in the summer but then changed his mind and stayed (after comparing the Idol contract with what BBC promised him).
So evidently the BBC must have concluded that they now must have a female judge that is guaranteed to be a sympathetic judge. That perfectly explains why they went from the fresh "latest era" singer Jessie J to "nineties-early 2000s crowd fave" Miniogue.
