No, I am in college and there was nothing done that was something the school as an entirety did or came up with. I believe a club did set up a ceremony of some sort earlier tonight and they released balloons in remembrance.

I hate to be
that person, but are you serious lol? 12 years is a long time... I would understand had it been a year or two, but for the most part we have talked about 9/11 all throughout my public school career. I don't want to say that there comes a point where you move on, but there comes a point when you remember something occurring, dwell on it, get a moral from it, say a rest in peace for those who died, and move on with your day. We shouldn't forget of course, but I don't see how we benefit from talking about it every class of every 9/11 of every year lol... I am trying not to sound ignorant and a douchebag, but a couple times is fine... All day though... Nah.
Bill Werde said it best on Twitter earlier this morning though:

Pain manifests differently in everyone, so there's no judgment on my part. I personally struggle w/ the adamance of "never forget" rhetoric. There is so much to "never forget" that I often wonder what it is we are all being told we must remember. I doubt it is the same for all. Unfailingly on this day I set aside time to meditate on what I can do to increase equanimity in the world. And I feel the hurt of others.
