I didn't criticize Britney though. I meant people who actually seemed to be impressed by the fact Britney wrote a song and they were treating it as if she had never written anything else before.
It's because Britney is not known to be one of the main writers on her lead singles. Most of us are actually excited to see what she comes up with and it means she's taking it very seriously this time around. So it's not exactly like we're excited just because she wrote it.
Since the themes for this era are futuristic, urban, and dark. This whole EDM thing will go great with the futuristic part. The photos from the set show futuristic themes so this is going to be a smash hit!
i agree with the "it was great" part, but I think besides some of the lyrical content, I did not find it to be generic. I loved the heavy beats in the verses and the dubstep breakdown (which, at the time, was new to top 40 and very refreshing) really brought the song together. Honestly, it's some of Max/Luke's best work for her. Even now, I'd say HIAM remains one of my favorite lead singles from Brit.
That may be the main reason why it is not generic, but "Hold It Against Me" is a forgettable song.
Her hairstylist also said on Instagram that "Work Bitch" is a club banger. Zen said on twitter that it was more mid-tempo than uptempo. Idk what to believe. I'll just wait it out. 5 more days...
It's going to be a club banger in the sense that "Gimme More" was. She's coming for Blackout 2.0. Anybody with complaints can get the **** out of my way
