Katy Perry looks set to spend a second week at Number 1 with Roar, the Official Charts Company can reveal.
The US singer shot straight to the top of the Official Singles Chart on Sunday with the lead track from her forthcoming album, Prism. Roar sold a massive 179,500 copies in its first week on sale, becoming the fastest selling UK single of Katy’s career, and the third fastest selling single of 2013 so far (behind Avicii’s Wake Me Up and Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines).
Roar has sold an additional 50,000 copies so far this week, to put it into pole position on today’s Official Singles Chart Update.
Ellie Goulding, whose three week stand at Number 1 was ended on Sunday, holds firm at Number 2 today, while Avicii’s Wake Me Up (Number 3) and Klangkarussell’s Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine) FT Will Heard (4) also remain static. Drake’s Hold On We're Going Home FT Majid Jordan climbs one place today to Number 5.
I predict Drake will be #3 come Sunday, Gaga will be back in the top 10 and Drake ain't snatching that #1 anytime soon with the huge releases coming up.
Yeah. Drake won't be getting #1 with this song. A peak of #2 or #3 (most likely 3) would be a great achievement for him though considering he doesn't have much of a presence here and it's all off the back of radio and internet support.
