Companies would never go for this as if it did work and became popular they would lose out on so much money. They want people devices to fail eventually so they upgrade to the next model, which costs significantly more than replacing a part
An absolutely amazing concept in the minds of "what if." In the practical sense of business and whether or not it would succeed.... not so much. It's far too idealistic to actually be something that works out. Especially from a business perspective, getting companies to get in on this plan would be incredibly difficult.
