Amy Winehouse would have been celebrating her 30th birthday on Saturday



To mark the anniversary of Winehouse's 30th birthday, an exhibition of photographs and artwork inspired by her career are on show at the Proud gallery in Camden. The show’s name, ‘For you I was a flame’, is taken from the first line of her hit song ‘Love is a Losing Game’, in recognition of the intensity of her talent as a soul artist. It’s one of a series of tribute events organised by the Amy Winehouse Foundation, grouped together under the name #Amys30.

The location of the gallery in her old home of Camden seems an appropriate location for the works, which include photos by Dean Chalkey and Jake Chessum and paintings by Mr Brainwash and Gerald Laing, among others.

A launch event will take place at the gallery from 8:30pm this Wednesday, which will be attended by Amy’s father Mitch Winehouse and Norman Jay MBE on the decks. All proceeds go to the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which works to prevent the effects of alcohol and drug misuse on vulnerable and disadvantaged young people.

Amy Winehouse: ‘For you I was a flame’ is at Proud Camden from September 12 – October 6, 11.30am-5.30pm. Free.
