Results are here. 6 will become 5 very soon. We will finish what we started. You were rated on the regular 1 to 10 scale. Wanna see how you did?
Let's get started...
ethaniel
Mash-Ups
ethan

Welcome to Round 16 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (All Stars)!
The theme for Round 15 is...
Mash-Ups!
One of the most popular "underground" movements in music today is the mash-up! A mash-up is a song that a DJ creates using two or more songs from other artists, combining elements from both to create a new song. Creating mash-ups is an art and it's very difficult to create good ones (trust ethan, he has tried and failed several times).
In this challenge, you are going to create a playlist of four to six amazing mash-ups that you can imagine will be used to introduce the idea of mash-ups to people who have never heard of them. Find some good ones! You can check youtube, www.mashuptown.com, and other sites (use Google) to find your mash-ups. Look into artists like DJ Earworm and Girl Talk, but try to find mash-ups that you don't think your competitors will use. Unique mash-ups will be preferred to "current hit by Dr. Luke mashed up with last year's hit by Dr. Luke", but don't shy away from choosing a really cool sounding mash-up just because you don't think it's unique enough. A good mash-up is a good mash-up!
You can certainly try to create one, but you won't be given slack in the judging if it isn't up to par with the other mash-ups just because you made it (looking at you ethan).
Some examples of cool mash-ups:
A Circus of Heartbreakin' Divas (Pat Benatar vs. Beyoncé vs. 3Oh!3 vs. Britney Spears vs. Christina Aguilera vs. M.I.A.)
Girl Talk - Get It Get It
We are looking for mash-ups that use recognizable songs. It doesn't have to be a huge hit, but irrelevant dj mashed up with irrelevant dj might sound cool but we want to know the songs being mashed.
Make us dance, bitches!

The Deadline for this Round is September 8th at 12 P.M. U.S. Pacific Time.
If you need more time, then you cannot have more time.
Good luck to you all!
Bring it.

Dylan - ethan - Mash-Ups
It was a pretty basic idea but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It goes along with other rounds so while it's not ground breaking, it fits in with the whole idea of what you'd expect with a survivor round. "if you need more time, you can't have more time."

I like mash-ups, they can sound really great so generally I am a fan of this idea. However, I don't like the idea of creating a playlist of mash-ups, that could become a bit overwhelming when listening to it and I also think it would be a bit tough to judge. There are basically no other criteria than personal taste of the judges and that's always a bit iffy. Creative entry though. 6/10

Ethan - 8.5 - I actually feel this is a very good idea. I once had the idea of having a remix round so this is quite similar. It goes along with the themes Dylan has been running throughout the seasons, and it would be great to discover several new mashups for us to listen. I would be actually very keen to having this round.

The Popstar Machine
medosuxx

Welcome to Round 16 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (All Stars)!
The theme for Round 16 is...
The Popstar Machine
This round you will be operating the big Popstar machine. The machine is simple and very easy to operate, all you have to do is describe your perfect pop star in a paragraph or more and input the data into the machine, How exactly? Well, you input in bits and pieces from the world's celebrities. Maybe some Katy Perry boobs, a Kim Kardashian ass, Beyonce's pipes, Rihanna's discography and so on. It will then process the data and ta-da! A popstar is born.
Do note that the popstars the machine creates are robots, or fembots, so make sure to charge them in order to avoid defective battery packs.

But if a malfunction does occur, you can pull a Lady Gaga and call it "Art" or "Part of the act".

---------
Guidelines
The Task is divided into two parts, Appearance & Music.
Appearance
First of all you will have to describe your Star's appearance, so add in photos from various celebrities. Here's an example of a Popstar I myself created with the machine. You can also include body and not just face.

Music
You will then have to create the perfect debut album for this artist. The album will have to be in between 12 to 18 tracks, you will add in what you believe is the perfect tracklist.
- You can not copy and paste another album's tracklist
- You can not use only one artist's songs for the traklist
You will have to use more than one or two artist's song, switch it up. Also remember you're creating a hit album for today's charts. What songs do you think would slay the charts right now and would make the perfect debut album?
The Deadline for this Round is September [Dillon Enters Date Here] at 12 P.M. U.S. Pacific Time.

Your idea is the most creative in my opinion which I admire. The only problem here is that I don't think anyone but you would be capable of this challenge. It may be asking too much from the other contestants who aren't as tech savvy which wouldn't be fair. It's a shame because the idea itself is great,

It took me quite a while to understand what your task was about, I thought that introduction part was rather confusing. The appearance part doesn't really make sense to me because everyone has different ideas of a perfect physical appearance. The music part is okay and similar to previous challenges, but I think a tracklist of 12 to 18 songs is way too long. So this doesn't strike me as easy to do for both contestants and judges, because this is also a subjective matter to judge, whether we think a song would slay the charts or not. 5/10

medosuxx - 5 - Hmm.. the concept it's interesting but I found it quite too elaborate for a round idea and it seems that you need to invest a whole lot of time in this. Still interesting, although it seems tiring for me.

DanceForYou
Create an Indie EP
DanceForYou

Welcome to Round 16 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (All Stars)!
The theme for Round 16 is...
Create an Indie EP
Most of the time in this game, the majority of contestants choose to send in very popular and mainstream song choices. What's wrong with that you ask? Nothing! However, for this round that won't be acceptable. Your goal now is to create an "Indie EP". The directions for this round are simply to compile a list of 5 or 6 songs by artists that you love who wouldn't be known by the general public. Artists who have received very little, if any, mainstream success. Choose your favorite songs by artists that fit this criteria and create an EP. Having variety within your EP will be key as well. Finally, write a short description telling us why you chose these particular songs or artists. You can choose up to 2 songs by the same artist if you really enjoy them. This is your chance to showcase a different side of your musical tastes. Introduce us to some new artists and expand our musical knowledge!
The Deadline for this Round is September 4th at 12 P.M. U.S. Pacific Time.
Good luck to you all and remember that at this point in the game anything can happen. Immunity is the only way to insure your safety 100% so make sure to try your hardest!
Impress us!

Dylan - DanceForYou - Create an Indie EP
Yours fit in with the other rounds of Survivor. It gives recognition to less mainstream artists which isn't really done much here, Usually, you're using pop girls so this ties a more known subject in the game with one not really experimented with. It's not groundbreaking but it would make for a cute round. Maybe we'd find some cool new music as well.

My favorite challenge out of the bunch, this is a great idea. Ever since getting involved with this game I've been trying to promote the use of lesser known artists because I think it makes it more interesting and can also help people to broaden their musical horizon. There are a lot of rounds where I feel like players didn't bother to look beyond the obvious choices or maybe were too scared to use a non-mainstream artist, which was a bit disappointing. This round would make up for it. One of the qualities of a true Survivor for me is not just musical taste, but musical knowledge, and this round would be a chance to prove exactly that. 10/10

DanceForYou - 9.5 - I loved the idea. I feel the whole Indie genre has been dismissed from this game and not been used at all except for quite a few entries. Considering creating an Indie EP is great, and at the same time, we could all use some new music for our iTunes library. I love myself some Indie music, so this is a great idea Nicole, besides, it definetely fits with the mold of the rounds Dylan has been created along the season.

The True Test
Stevie

The theme for Round 16 is...
The True Test
Since I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for the simplicity and the fun of the pre-merge rounds, I wanted to do different take on the "send me a song matching this theme" thing for next round. I think it will be enjoyable and a hopefully a bit quicker than some of the recent rounds, which have been taking a long time.
So, the challenge I thought of was "The True Test" in which Dillon posts a group of 12 themes that we could possibly send songs to. It'll really be a true testament to who is the best at the pre-merge inspired rounds. The remaining six contestants will randomly draw for the order in which they get to pick their theme, it could be a smaller game set up by Dillon that simply decides the order. Then, each players goes ahead and picks one theme that think they could best create an album of 10 songs about. That means after everyone picks from the 12 themes, only 6 will be left. Then, Dillon can randomly assign us another player that we get to pick a second theme for. This second theme will be chosen for you by someone else and you will have to make an EP of 5 songs that you feel best fit this theme. This challenge may take longer if someone isn't actively online for a while, but I think it will be more interactive and fun. When you choose someone else's theme, it is anonymous and PMed to only Dillon. Therefore you don't have to reveal who you picked for if you kind of wanted to screw someone over so they don't win immunity.
I think a title for the album and EP, one for each, and a brief description of your thought processes behind your song selections will add a little more to the challenge. The judges will score each players full package (album, EP, plus titles and description) and someone will ultimately win immunity.
The Deadline for this Round is September 13th at 12 P.M. U.S. Pacific Time.
Good luck to you, quick links will be updated soon. Bring it.

I had to read yours again to really understand what you were saying but i actually like it. It could be complicated if people aren't online but you guys are all fairly active on ATRL so it couldn't be too bad but it's definitely something that could turn into a mess if not done well. It was like pre merge rounds on steroids which isn't a bad thing to me. One of the better ideas we had here.

This sounded also a bit confusing at first but then I worked it out. I definitely think it is too much though, putting together 15 songs, that is gonna take up a lot of time especially to judge. I'm also not sure how realistic it is to find 10 songs that talk about the same theme without being repetitive or boring. I think it'd actually be more challenging to ask for a smaller number so that people will have to narrow it down. Then the interactive part, you already mentioned it yourself, it's probably not gonna work considering the inactivity of the thread. I like how you tried to come up with something that references the pre-merge rounds though, since they are basically the essence of this game. Album/EP titles and a brief description were also a nice touch. But overall, a bit too much work. 6/10

Welcome to Round 15 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (All Stars)!
The theme for Round 15 is...
Know Your Enemy
Last round we kind of knew each other’s favorite music and singers, so we have to take an advantage of that.
Contestants must PM this list with their answers on it.
Quote:
Favorite song from the 80’s
Favorite song from the 90’s
Favorite song from the 00’s
Favorite video of all time
Artist you hate the most
Favorite band (duos are available too)
Contestant you trust the most in survivor
|
Once I have all your answers I'll post them here and you wil start guessing everyone's answers, (you can put their names next to the answer) Deadline to send your answers is 1 day (idk when this is going to be post) when I have the answers the deadline will be in 3 days, this will be a quick challenge.
The contestant with the most right answers will win immunity. This round is very simple so judges are not required , so you guys can go and enjoy the island you have worked so hard, you deserve this, go have some fun and **** or get ****ed Drinks are on me.
Bring it on guys.

Dylan - t.A.T.u. - Know Your Enemy
First off, i love you Omarsus. Now on to your entry...it was a little too similar to rounds already used (WWJD). Another problem we could run into is people telling each other answers and altering the authenticity of the challenge as a whole. It's not a bad idea since it was already used in other seasons... but it bares too much resemblance and the new part is problematic.

Omar:
The problem I see here is that people in an alliance could possibly tell each other which answers are theirs to improve their scores. Apart from that, it's a bit basic because the contestants don't actually have to work on an entry, just answer a couple of questions and then guess. Also, some people might put really obscure answers to make it impossible to guess their identity, which would make the game based on luck, which I don't think should be the important factor in the game at this point. I know you wanted to create a round that is easy, fast and doesn't require the judges you consider flops but this is a bit too basic. 4/10

Ray
t.A.T.u. - 8 - We used to have the "WWJD" back on Seasons 1&2 so this is kinda similar, although I do like the twist on basing the answers on the actual contestants rather than on us judges solely. I feel that way we could get to know each other. I like this idea for a tiebreaker or for a pre-round idea, but I don't know if Dylan would use this idea considering he basically scrapped the WWJD round this season.

What's on Survivors' Minds..
Kavish

Welcome to Round 16 of Survivor: ATRL Edition (All Stars)!
The theme for Round 16 is...
What's on Survivors' Minds..
You probably already know ATRL's popular game 'What's on ATRLers' Minds', and this is the Survivor version. This is how it will work. There will be a list of questions, and you will have to answer by what you think the majority will give as answer so that you score a lot of points. An example of how points will be calculated:
Quote:
Question: An ATRL section.
Games Section - 4 - (t.A.T.u., DanceForYou, ethan, Lukey)
Base - 2 - (Stevie, medosuxx)
Music News - 1 - (Kavish)
Therefore, those who replied 'Games' get 4 points, Base 2 points and Music News 1 point. After counting the points for all questions, the one with the highest point wins immunity.
|
Did you think the questions would be that easy? Most of our thoughts or things we talk have been done outside of this thread because this is Survivor and there are many things that we should not let our opponents/targets/enemies know. This round is like a revelation where thoughts/perceptions will be out in the open, and a lot could be learned from that. Below are 9 questions and you will only have to write down 1 name for each.
1. Who among the remaining contestants deserve to win this game?
2. Which remaining contestant did you not expect to make it this far?
3. Which member of the jury do you wish was still in the game?
4. Which member of the jury do you think deserved to be eliminated?
5. Which remaining contestant is the most annoying?
6. Which remaining contestant is the most likeable?
7. Which judge do you think did a better job?
8. Which judge do you think didn't do a good job?
9. Who among the remaining contestants doesn't deserve to win this game?
REMEMBER:
1. You should write down the name that you think the majority will write. This is the only way you can score more points.
2. Don't give any explanation because ain't nobody got time fo dat. Just write 1 name. If you write anything else other than just a name, your won't be awarded any point for that question.
The Deadline for this Round is 24 hours from now.
Good luck!
-Kavish

Dylan - Kavish - What's on Survivors' Minds..
The concept isn't completely original but I guess it would be a different approach to the game and maybe a good one. The main problem we have here is while this could be a lot of fun, someone would probably ruin it by rigging results to come out a certain way... so basically the biggest alliance could cheat and maybe get away with it if they were smart enough to do it strategically. But i do think this would be a lot of fun to do with honest players. It's just really easy to cheat on which I don't think you thought of. I'm really conflicted on this one but I'm leaning towards a positive review.

I love What's on ATRLer's minds, and the crossover is indeed interesting. I see a lot of potential for drama/negativity here though, and it's also not that relevant to the game. It doesn't require any skills and we're not gonna get honest answers, so it's basically about who can guess what the majority thinks. The alliance could also work together and decide which answers they are all going to give so that would make the game kind of useless. I appreciate you trying to be creative and think outside of the box but I'm afraid this wouldn't really fit Survivor. 3/10

Kavish - 8 - I LOVE this game. Sad thing KT&T never managed to finish it. Your idea is quite similar to Omar's so I find my comments similar also. Would love to see this happen, a mash-up with other successful Games section tournaments would be great. Also, I do hope the original What's on ATRLers minds continue, and KT&T finally manages to resucitate and finish the game.

It's time for final scores/tribal to start. You have a regular average out of 10 for this round but due to the player vote we had on who you guys thought had the best idea...scores will be slightly different. Each vote you got for your idea will add .2 to your overall score. 3 people were voted for so those receiving extra points to their average are...
Kavish (4 votes) = .8 added to overall average
ethan (1 vote) = .2 added to overall average
DanceForYou (1 vote) = .2 added to overall average
That means...
This Round's Averages:
1. DanceForYou - 9.7
2. Stevie - 8.1667
3. ethan - 7.533
4. Kavish - 6.433
5. t.A.T.u. - 6.333
6. medosuxx - 6
Averages of the Game So Far:
1. DanceForYou - 9.433 - =
2. Stevie - 8.5 - =
3. ethan - 7.9 - +1
4. t.A.T.u. - 7.6 - -1
5. Kavish - 7.5 - =
6. medosuxx - 7.3 - =
Immunity goes to:
DanceForYou
Congratulations to you Nicole. You rose to the top of the leaderboard this round after lingering near the top last round. You are safe this round and are guaranteed at least one more round in the game. To the rest of you, talk to your allies and see what's going on and then vote for who you want to be the eighth eliminated Merged contestant. I'll see you at Tribal. Good luck to you all.
