I'm surprised no one has brought this up.
Lets say YouTube will still be a huge force in 5-7 years, when the current YouTubers retire, who are gonna take over? I know it's a weird question, but it's starting to look like the online version of Hollywood.
If you want a fanbase, you still need to gain a following over a few years or hopefully you get lucky and go viral (and hope the viewers stick around). But since the heavy weights are the being taken care of, it's hard to break through. But even then, you shouldn't be a YouTuber to be famous, you have to have something to genuinely 'say'.
