There are a lot of derelicts near my college. I never use my meal credits from my school because I eat out a lot so I sometimes get them food from our dining halls and bring it to them.
Honestly, I'm afraid of homeless people. I live in NYC and the ones that sit on the street scare me. Plus I've heard stories about homeless people attacking people, etc., so I tend to ignore them.
Buy them food, don't give them money. The real homeless ones appreciate it, the ones trying to put on a show for some extra change get pissed. Weed out the liars.
Well, if I have any spare change to give that's like accessible then I will. I usually do, though. Not too long ago I found two dollars on the ground and as I was walking by, I gave it to this homeless guy.
I'm not afraid of them or anything. Although, this one time this guy pulled my bag and and it wrapped around me and I fell to the ground and he kept walking like nothing happened. That freaked me out a bit, though.
I usually just walk by. Some are either fakes or they just became homeless so I can't decide what. Anyways my mom used to give some change sometimes but I usually just walk away . I don't have change all the time and if I gave a dollar for everyone I see Only happens when I go to NYC though.

If they are drinking beer or whatever or I have a feeling they are on drugs they don't get anything except a sneer that they need to get their **** together and find work to feed their addiction... I only give to a couple of them if someone else is with me and they act normally... I used to give this guy money sometimes and one time i didn't and he started cussing at me, so he never got another cent, ungrateful disgusting bitch

I saw a homeless man hail a taxi once. I was thinking "Aren't you broke and homeless?"

Its very kind of you to give money to that person but the nerve of them to curse you out because you didn't give it to them once? They can honestly shove it .-. No one is obligated to give you money in the first place so he has alot of nerve to do that :|
We don't have that many homeless people in my country because we have free shelters for them.
But the ones we have are drug addicted and sleep most of the time.
They never ask for money though so nobody pays them attention.
I mean here you never HAVE to be homeless, you can get money from the government when you're broke so they're just choosing to be on the streets.

I'd give them food, never money. Money is often used for the wrong things, unfortunately. At least if you give them food you know you won't be feeding an addiction
Where I live homeless people usually don't survive long unless they "migrate." Our summers are 100-120 degrees Fahrenheit every day.
So once I saw this homeless guy with a shopping cart going up a hill on one of the hottest days I went to the nearest starbucks and got him a drink and one of their pre-packed foods. Felt good that day
