Love Pearl S. Buck. I've read The Good Earth and just picked up Imperial Woman but I haven't read it yet.

I'd recommend anything by Khaled Hosseini (The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns) or Jeannette Walls (Half Broke Horses and The Glass Castle), or Mitch Albom for a quick read. Goodreads has ~some~ good compilation lists.

Neal Shusterman has great books.

Just Kids by Patti Smith is one of the latest books I have enjoyed. Im recommending it also because it might be an interesting read for every music fan

I know. I liked Anna, she was just born in the wrong time period. But yes, it was hard to like her at times, mostly because of my sympathies for Karenin.

I also recommend this book along with another Tolstoys classic, War and Peace.
