I guarantee you it's not better than the Note 2. Apple bamboozled you on that one, when the iPhone that was out ATM had 5mp, hell the 3GS had 3mp and you didn't even get that.
Battery life sucks on the 4g. I'm typing from a iPod touch 5g right now and the battery life is sub par.
I'm not sure what you do with your android device but they get slower too down the line like apple. Do you have widgets? Live backgrounds? GoLauncher? Apple can't handle these BTW. All these will make your android slower.
If anything I would try a blackberry. But the App Store is.....

The battery on iOS 6.1 devices is terrible due to a software glitch. iOS 7 fixed that on my iPad 2.
You aren't going to get a good camera with the iPod Touch because it was the first iPod Touch 4 to have a camera and they were trialing it like they did with the iPod Nano to see if people really cared about it. So that's why it wasn't a good camera.
I didn't buy the iPod Touch for the camera anyway, but in good light conditions the iPod Touch 4 took great photos anyway.
Apple devices only get slower if people choose to update. My iPod touch slows down every so often but it's not as slow as my Note when using the internet or scrolling through menu's. I don't have any live wallpapers and I only have the S-Pen widget. I still use the Samsung skin, I only got it a few weeks ago.
Apple devices can handle live wallpapers. My iPad 1 is jailbroken and runs live wallpapers fine. The only reason the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4 don't get live wallpapers with iOS 7 is due to the fact that they have very basic graphic cards that couldn't handle a live wallpaper + the new OS effects while running apps.
My S2 didn't slow down at all when I had heaps of files, it was only when I updated it slowed right down. i miss it so much.
