It looks like the 2009 compilation "The Singles Collection" by Britney Spears had a 2013 re-release just a few days ago. (August 30th, to be more precise).

What does remastered mean

What does remastered do EXACLY?

In words that are simple to understand: kind of changes how certain sounds in the song...sound. Might make them louder, quieter, whatever.

They tweaked the original sessions for each song a bit (new EQ values, altered some filters here and there, etc...) and saved new masters (hence the "remastered" term) so the sound is clearer compared to the original masters they had when they released those songs back in the day (1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007 & 2008).
