Knowing how to stand up for yourself is good but it's not like there is some threshold you can reach that will make you invulnerable to bullying. Anti-bullying campaigns are trying to cut the problem at the source by showing the effects bullying can have. The key is building a more compassionate society. It's not just saying "bullying is bad." As many have said, everyone "knows" that, but I think a lot of people don't really understand it.

if you can, learn how to fight back.
but if you can't - mentally or physically (myself for example - I'm too small compared to the bully) - you need other people to help you stop bullying.
however, it's obvious that most of the bullied kids are "different" (if you know what I mean), so anti-bullying is necessary. whoever against it must be totally retarded.

I have to agree. And look at how many parents end up looking shocked and stupid when "I didn't think my child was capable of bullying another kid!"

I agree self defense should be taught especially to those who are more targeted but its extremely important to have conversations about when it is or isn't necessary to start hitting someone. Telling bullied victims to "stop being weak" and learn how to fight seems like a temporary solution to a huge problem in schools.

Learn how to fight. But NEVER EVER hit first.
