If people didn't take her seriously why is she a touring force?
Being a touring force doesn't make you respected and it doesn't mean you're taken seriously. Madonna (even though she's the female Jesus), is pretty much seen as a desperate, elderly joke but she can still rake in massive numbers on tour.
