Yes, it contained the effects of the VMA's, but they were nearly two weeks ago and their effects have long since worn off. It's holding up rather well at this point, it was just the first two weeks that were really rough.

She "fell" to #6 because Royals and WMU are quickly rising. The VMA's were almost 2 weeks ago Gaga rose in Spotify streaming and youtube views always slow down after a few days.
Considering most of you said Applause would be out of the top 10 come the next weekend, and it's been hanging around the top 5 for several days, I think it is showing signs of longevity. Rise, Applause, rise!

He's just pointing out an ad of promo Applause has. With all the promo she's gotten for the song, and still only averaging ~200K for the weeks it's been out, it's not impressive. Longevity would be something that's been floating and selling well for 6 months. The 2nd single might kill its chances of longevity.

I don't know yet, the single hasn't even been out for 1 month. I guess we'll see how much longevity it will show this whole month and then we'll talk, because let's be real...it would have been a disaster for it to already drop out of the top 10 on iTunes by now...

Well the first week she did 225k
Second week she did like 150k??
This past week(thanks to the VMAs) she did 215k

And those sales are what helped it stay in the top 10.

Next week she should be back in the 100k range. Also she's falling in streaming and the music videos views have stalled. Also radio is not here for it. So next week she will probably be number 8.

Considering how weak her opening sales was and how it seemed like the song was bound to drop out of the top10 before the video release, the fact it is been keeping stable with ****** radio updates is impressive. Still, it will probably start freefalling soon if radio doesn't back it a bit more.

Right. They're honestly trying to fault Gaga for her youtube views dropping. Naturally, when a music video debuts (especially from a huge star), the second week doesn't get as many views as the first week Lol only Gaga can cause ATRL to disregard all logic

Radio is taking it slowly, yes, and views are slowing, but they're still doing rather well and, despite it's slowness, any increase on radio is still helpful. It might drop on the Hot 100 next week but it could maintain moderate success for a decent amount of time.

yes, longevity in top 10 is a definite and that's without almost any major promo other than the VMAs and iTunes Festival. The real promo is barely about to get started
