The 26-year-old English singer opened up to the mag about her new album Halcyon Days, her first-ever No. 1 hit in the U.K., and how love affects her artistic mood. Check it:
On Halcyon Days: “These new tracks are just the other side to the side that is already out. When I wrote the original Halcyon I was in darker place. These new songs don’t follow the same story that Halcyon does but they explore my love of pop and electronic music a lot more.”
On collaborating with Calvin Harris: “I’m delighted that people have responded to my track with Calvin so well, Calvin is a huge talent and I think its a universal theme that everyone can relate to.”
On the inspiration behind “Hearts Without Chains”: “An ex inspired this song because I was frustrated that we never got to see each other and it’s as simple as that. I wanted time to stop and be with that person but that couldn’t happen.”
