Is anyone really disappointed that they're picking the 2nd single from these songs?
I mean, I was expecting, especially after Applause, that for the 2nd single, right before the album drops, that they would have an ABSOLUTE KILLER of a single planned, and that it would be one of the songs still not revealed, as Gaga herself said she's kept the best til last.
Now they're planning to have one of these songs as the 2nd single. Firstly, as much as I love all these songs, none of them are KILLER single-worthy, tbh. Secondly, surely we'll all have heard the 2nd single (Live version) so much that when it's officially revealed, we'll all be like 'meh'.

I see where you are coming from. None of them are absolute SMASHES, in my opinion. But at least Gaga/Interscope are trying to get us involved in the process. A lot of pop stars would never let their fans choose their 2nd single. I'm grateful they didn't just pick one of the songs without considering our opinions.
For those concerned about them moving on from Applause prematurely...
If they want to debut the video alongside the second single release, they need to get it organised now. A month for edit with at least a few weeks to create the treatment, organise a director and make all the arrangements. They'd be thinking about it now even if Applause was smashing.

I had hoped they had a 2nd single from the other half of ARTPOP. Now they've largely lost the surprise factor of a new song cus we all know it. Perhaps it's best though. Maybe they don't want to take any chances and value our feedback to help guide them from a consumer POV.
I don't want Sex Dreams to be a single. It will definetly flop. I mean, I honestly don't care about the commercial success that much, but it's nice if she can prevent the flops.
More than just non-stans would buy Sex Dreams from the hype swinefest has generated. I'd reckon it could beat Gaga's Applause first sales week.
She should stick with Applause for a while, though. Gaga recycled through singles too quickly with the BTW era.. She could have milked TEOG more, probably could have gotten Judas to a higher peak, etc. Applause is still slowly climbing, higher sales week, streams will remain strong... She should stick with it for another 4-6 weeks and do promo. Just keep it alive until the second single.
