It doesnt matter if Applause was #1 or #1000, it will not change how bad the song is. She seems so sure that people are disappointed from her chart numbers, but she should consider that her music may be the true reason behind it.

It doesn't need to be "risky indie" to not be playing it safer. Let's not pretend like she couldn't be playing her career MUCH safer in order to reap the benefits.

Success =/= commercial or financial gain. Some like to win/succeed, but it doesn't need to be driven by money.

The point remains that this was for one single. She didn't cease to exist before 2 weeks ago.

pika made good points though.... At least offer a valid counter-argument. Applause is probably the most GP friendly song she has presented to us so far ,and it's not doing as well as expected. Encouraging the fans to repeatedly buy singles is the wrong way to go. She should have just released a more GP friendly song than Applause (but considering the direction ARTpop is going in)

It's really not about the music, applause is nice song, it's more about timing and public image, Gaga is overexposed, at this point people will call her attention seeker and tryhard no matter what she does and she has no one to blame but herself, she pushed away the public with her pretentiousness and try hardness for 5 years straight... let's see how things turn out for her, i really want her to succeed tho...
