You're assuming that an open relationship must be failing and falling apart, without presenting any evidence to back it up.

Your point doesn't exist. It's built upon your own definition of other people's agreements between each other. "Marriage" has no universal definition that you can just apply to everyone. It doesn't even have a cohesive definition within individual cultures, each and every couple is free to do as they wish with what they consider to be their "marriage".
