It's working out fine for me too, so far, but who would seriously be ignorant enough to think it goes that way for everybody? Almost all of my college was paid off for and I know that if it wasn't for that, my ass would be in thousands of dollars of debt right now.
Open your mind a little more.

Now, if you could buy healthy foods cheaper than the unhealthy food, you'd probably see more people buying the cheap, healthy food.

Not true.
A bag of potato chips is made up of at most 1-2 potatoes, but costs like $2.00. 1-2 potatoes irl cost like $0.80.
Fried Frozen Chicken is $8.99/lb, but it's packaged so it looks like more. Regular raw chicken is like $4.99-$2.99 a pound depending on the part of the chicken you are buying.
And so on.
People are just too lazy and easily tricked by colorful images to stop and think about what they are buying.

Depends on the location and where these in demand jobs are located.
Not everyone can just pack up n move to a new city after they graduate.
But I do agree about majority of people want handouts these days.
Nothing in life is just going to fall in your lap.

compared to ACTUAL third World countries, everyone in the U.S. is exactly in optimal situations
but where in this thread did I mention taking away foodstamps was good? I just said it's bad for people who need it, but that there's also some abuse that needs to be taken care of.
Or did you not like me thinking that $14/hour to flip hamburgers was ridiculous?

You know why they want $14/h? Entitled "I got my degree, and I am superior to those who don't" people go through the drive through and are not in the least bit polite. Any job where you have to work with the public is hell. ANYONE who has worked in a job like that will tell you.
I know, it's honestly hard to believe a minimum wage job is "hard", but ****, it's a job.
|
I work in a restaurant, and working with the public is not "hell." Yes, there are rude people, but that doesn't mean I should be making even $10/hr, let alone $14.

Some of my close relatives - my grandmother and my most of my mother's brothers and sisters live off of foodstamps, and I can fairly say that if they were cut from it, they would have no connection to food whatsoever.
And not everyone is fortunate. "If Rihanna can make it, anyone can." Luck isn't on everyone's side. Not everyone makes it, no matter how hard they try.
However not trying doesn't get you anywhere, either. People who are on food stamps should try to adjust their life to where they aren't on it instead of just letting the government feed them. (Note, I said TRY - a real effort, too)

You think standing at a register, assembling burgers, and pouring soda in a cup should be paid at the same rate that teachers are making (on average)? (obviously, teachers should make much more, but on average, $14/hour is basically what their salary peters out to)
and I'm always polite to everyone IRL. That's why i am a rude B**** online.

I guess that's why my food stamps go so fast. It's really pathetic that I have to pay more for fresh fruits & veggies, whole grains, and stuff without unhealthy fats and sugars while the fat mom with her fat children will have a shopping cart full of garbage and get more for her money.

Raising the minimum wage would be disastrous (especially that high) though.
