Seeing how the 3DS is taking all Japanese developers away from PS4 I wouldn't be worried about it.

lol i know. Even though Konami,Namco,tecmo and plenty of other japanese developers plan on making games for the PS4.

Where are they? I have yet to see an "overwhelming support" for the ps4 by jap developers. Aside from the international driven franchises, ps4 jap support is anemic.

The console isn't even out yet and most of the reports you read are about the western releases. I really haven't heard most of the japan only titles that ps3/ds has/had.
On top of that 3ds is not a competition for ps4, Wii U is. So your opinion is null and void.

Yeah, it really is true. I love the DS line to death, but Nintendo should know that better than anyone considering they released DS (original), DS Lite, DSi, DSi XL...... before finally getting to the 3DS, which has an XL and a 2DS

3DS is Japan´s most successful and main console at the moment. It is competition for PS4 just like the DS was for PS3 (Stealing DQIX from Sony consoles, for instance).

No kids care about Mario anymore. It's all about the Halo or Call of Duty or some other AAA title. Even with the yearly rehashes Mario looks more stale than CoD

This so much. Nintendo has never been a competitor console wise, they got lucky with the Wii, but it was due to the fact they actually did revolutionise the games console with the motion play. Like you say, Nintendo are so much stronger in the handheld market. Has the Vita or PSP even came close to the 3/DS sales wise?
