I loved Who You Are so much, but this is a bit disappointing. None of the previews are striking me as spectacular or anything.. there's not a song I can really pick that's a standout right now. I had a feeling this wouldn't light a match to WYA not only because that's an amazing album, but because the 3 songs she has released from this so far are just average/nice. Hopefully full versions will prove me wrong.
boring up until Daydreamin'. thas a jaaaaam. Gold is huge! Excuse My Rude seems like the best production. wish she worked with Luke and Cirkut more.
Brandy's voice on Conquer the World - YES. i so so love her sultry vocal.
production on the other tracks seem too heavy as well as her vocals; too much compositing. crunchy guitars and strong kick drums gets kinda abrasive along w/her vocals. but the stand out tracks are Daydreamin', Gold, and maybe Thunder.
the melodies are a bit forgettable and sort of basic/pop formula. "oh-oh-ohs and ooooohs"
Okay listening at the previews while writing this: It's My Party still hate it Thunder sounds okay Square One expecting better of this, but I will judge fully when I hear the full Sexy Lady I like the sound, but it doesn't sounds too promising Harder We Fall reminds me of Rihanna's We All Want Love, but sounds so far as the first real promising track Breathe sounds nice overall so far I Miss Her sounds promising Daydreamin' I like the vibe of this Excuse My Rude probably best standard album track so far Wild still love this, needed an other similair to this Gold sounds nice so far Conquer The World sounds promising Alive sounds okay so far Unite sounds nice so far Hero one of the tracks that is probably better than the majorty of the album, maybe the best so far Magnetic also a really good track
Overall judging by the snippets this will be a dissapointing album. I loved her debut more or less. But this album feels so mixed, it goes from a small high to a downlow back and forth with the end of the deluxe saving the album in some way.
I feel she should have settled for a dark atmosphered album with Wild, Magnetic, Excuse My Rude and Hero, or should have gone more R&B or urban, but this just feels like a bunch of random songs picked together, while not even her potential being showed by the majorty of it so far.
Standouts for me:
Harder We Fall, Breathe, Excuse My Rude, Wild, Unite, Hero, Magnetic.
I dunno if I will listen to the whole album. I'll probably listen only this tracks.
nothing jumps out at all. and in album previews, a good song should. there's nothing like Abracadabra or Domino that leaves you wanting more.
i remember when i heard the Domino snippet on soundcloud and I kept listening and thinking of how the next part would go... this Alive **** is bland as ****
Some awesome tracks here and there, but I can't help but feel this album was rushed. She cancelled tours and whatever to make something superior to WYA. While this is decent it's not nearly as good as Who You Are.
