Iggy Azalea Talks Miley, Cursing On Beyoncé's Tour & More
On presenting at the VMAs with Lil Kim: I was really excited! Kim, Missy [Elliott], and Eve are MCs that I listened to as a kid. I aspired to be like them so it was pretty cool standing next to [Kim]!
On having a “potty mouth” and feeling like you can’t swear in front of Beyoncé: She is the pinnacle of doing everything correct! Whenever I “wild-out” I am like, “Beyoncé wouldn’t do this! I am so ashamed!” I will actually be performing more of my album songs on the road with Beyoncé… I don’t think I will be doing a lot of my early mixtape stuff like the P**** one! It’s a cool record, but it just seems wrong to do it with Beyoncé! It doesn’t seem right… I feel like I would let her down! [laughs]
On getting Beyoncé to say the “P” word: I don’t want to corrupt Beyoncé!
On her debut album "The New Classic": My album is not out yet. I got to wait until I get off tour with Beyoncé before I can put it out so I can promote… but it is finished.
On album surprises: I do have some surprises, but they’ll remain surprises!
On collaborating with Bruno Mars: There isn't a collab with him on my album, but I really liked him at the VMAs. I’ll be honest with you, before I saw him at the VMAs I always thought, “Oh, he’s so pop.” I actually enjoyed him live. He is a really talented kid. I think I kind of underestimated him.
On Miley Cyrus' VMA performance: I didn’t actually get to see that performance because I was inside the Moonman with Lil Kim. I heard it was very odd, but I feel it would be unfair to comment on it when I haven’t actually seen it. Miley seems to be a fan of rap music [but] it takes time to work out the kinks. She’s twenty and you got to give her time to figure it out.
On thinking about giving up rap: Yeah, every couple of months! [Laughing] For women it is not just even, “Oh, it is hard,” or “Oh, people are saying mean things about me,” but sometimes we think, “Oh, I want to have a family one day. Is this taking me in the opposite direction? Am I going to be sixty and dating a backup dancer one day?” Sometimes you think about those things.
On growing up as an artist: I was afraid to be vulnerable and tell my story. I would always diss men and be a s*** talker. I think I just have to take time to take a risk to say what I really feel, and who I am.
On eating chicken wings during the VMAs: It was during the break so I wasn’t thinking about the cameras or anything! Next thing I know, I look up and see a flash and I am like, “Oh s***!” [Laughing]

These girls know Bey is the standard, classy, extremely successful, beautiful and you dare not say anything out of pocket in her presence. True tea Iggy, I knew I liked her for a reason.

People take Bey so seriously. I know she commands respect, but it ain't that serious.
She sang about her vagina before you ever wrote your first haiku Iggy.
