SOTY is for lyrics and music. "Single Ladies", if set to generic pop production with the same lyrics, wouldn't have even been nominated in 2010.
"Thrift Shop" is a very smart, clever critique of society's obsession with brand names (and they also have the more streamlined "Same Love" as a backup). "Blurred Lines" will be nominated just because of how big it was, just like "Call Me Maybe" was last year.

I personally think Bruno could win one of the pop categories this year. The industry seems enamored by him.

I think Ariana will snag a nom, but I wouldn't be surprised if Lorde won the award.

Demi, Ariana & Paramore deserve those nominations
Kelly has to get some for Song Of The Year, Pop Solo Performance for Catch My Breath. Hope they do not snub her
EDIT: I totally forgot about Lorde

Catch My Breath won't contend in the same cathegories as Daft Punk or M&RL. Unless you think the song has a chance in ROTY/SOTY, which in case .

I think he'll take Pop Solo. Out of the top contenders, he has the biggest hit.
edit forgot about "Trouble" but I don't think it will win.

There seems to be a lot of support for Lorde as of late. I personally think she has too much working against her - she's too young, she's obviously going to be a one hit wonder, and she's too hipster-y for the Grammys (think Lana Del Rey last year).

UGH! I forgot about Lorde too. Royals is the perfect SOTY nominee. Sorry Imagine Dragons!

I also think Lana Del Rey is eligible for Best New Artist again because an artist is allowed to submit up to three times, and "Summertime Sadness" is the song that really got her known to the public this year, but Lorde will get that spot. "Royals" will be Grammy bait. Plus, the other contenders I listed have been consistent. It will be hard to ignore them. Sorry, Lana.

Oh i know 1 thing - P!nk will probably be nominated for JGMAR but she will of course lose coz ironically the woman who gave the Grammy Performance of the Decade (Billboard receipts) always somehow loses
they hate her

Quite honestly, Trouble is better than Mirrors, Locked Out of Heaven, Roar and Applause imo structurally and lyrically. It uses its production to make the lyrics more prominent, not overshadow it. Its production is very smart and award-worthy imo. Roar, Locked Out Of Heaven are just too basic. Not that the Grammys really care. They just nominate the hits and that's all.

Does Lorde have an album out? Shouldnt the BNA contenders have to have released a full album to be eligible?

I don't think that. I mean Lana is not anymore a new artist right? She has a chance to get other grammys tho
