It's honestly a fact at this point that most of Onika's fans don't even really listen to rap outside of her music, Drake, and a select few popular others. They wouldn't know their Fat Joe's from their Big Pun's

I didn't shade anyone especially not you. I'm saying pure truth.
What is your problem?

!!!
Preach the truth Seba. Ariana is an amazing artist; her vocal talent is amazing. I'm downloading her album right now and I'm POSITIVE I'll enjoy it in its entirety. If the two did collab, it would probably be a type of R&B/Pop hybrid track; Ariana's voice suits those type of songs better.

I don't listen to other rap, except for Onika and some Eminem. That's not only me, and that's certainly a thing that she should be proud of cause tbh most rap artists make rap so boring cause they write the same ****ing **** over and over.
But again to other people this will sound dumb because apparently we can't judge her rap if we don't really like other artists

Mac Miller? I never knew you were a fan. Why?

But do they have too? i'm just asking; if Onika & Drake are the only rap artists they listen to, is that such a problem? Are they obligated too? I see that a lot coming from within her fanbase (not any of you here, just in general) and it just makes me wonder.

K.I.D.S., Macadelic, and WMWTSO are all perfect. I keep it quiet because no one on here uses him.

THIS Omg.
Like, it's the same as accusing pop fans that only listen to Madonna or Rihanna, with there being so many Pop girls out, do they have to listen to each of them? Does that mean that they don't know much about what's going on in the industry and they're too focused in their artists? NO.

The only other rap artists I listen to besides Nic are M.I.A. & Azealia. I don't like male rappers.

I don't think Flare means they have to. I mean Nicki has exposed me to hip-hop but if I wans't a fan I would have paid it dust. But honestly I love hip-hop now. I think Flare is referring to the arguments held on the previous page.

It's a problem when you act pretentious as though you actually know things about the rap industry, rap music, and when your knowledge is based on the least authentic hip hop artists currently. Drake, Em, and Nicki are perfect examples of not doing the typical rap music and being successful by making it more mainstream friendly.
Stanning ONLY for them (and a few others) is like basically endorsing the assumption that you lack of real hip hop knowledge. The roots, the influences, the composition, the history and why it's important today, etc. This is all prevalent when discussing things like why Nicki is doing so many flop features right now but in reality are they really flopping or is everyone holding them to this mainstream success standard (that comes from pop music) that shouldn't be used in a hip hop conversation?

I'd be interested in giving him a listen if somebody directed me to some of his material.

It's amazing. It gets redundant at some parts but overall it's probably the best he's done.
Watching Movies, Gees, Aquarium, O.K., and Goosebumpz **** on careers, idc.

I always want to listen to male artists, but I only like the rappers. I really can't find a male singer that I like tbh, it's pretty frustrating. I can't be the only one. #Random
Any recommendations from my fellow Borbz?

I understand your points, and I see where you're coming from, but the bold has me a bit lost.
Maybe they just don't like the particular culture of hip-hop? Maybe the only hip-hop artists they can listen to/tolerate are Nicki, Drake, etc.
They may not have the knowledge, but in the end, a fan is a fan, period. If people are complaining about flop features (because PLENTY of people in this thread have done that, and most of them claim to "love" hip-hop), then explain to them, because they may not KNOW about it. They may not know what she's doing, or why she's doing it. Educate them, and let them know. Hell, give them the rundown.
Pointless arguing and bickering doesn't get anyone anywhere; sometimes, all you have to do is explain to others without coming across as a bitch and such. That's where the problem and drama arises, and some of you just don't understand that. (Not accusing you of course.)
This isn't part of the current topic, but some 'barbz' act like they have a superiority complex over others, and that's where everything hits the fan. People in this fanbase act like everything is so damn exclusive to them and to them only. That's not how it should be; a fan is a fan, period, and should be treated and regarded as one, but that doesn't happen as much.

Okay first, all that I bolded here is just irrelevant because I didn't even mention any of that nor imply any of that.
Second, the problem with what you bolded in my post is literally what I stated above that sentence.

This is something common in TM here and on twitter. Expecting things that just don't usually happen in Hip Hop to happen like all Nicki's features smashing because her name is on it.
