The fact anyone thinks 400k is "low" is beyond me. Stop getting used to million+ numbers. They rarely ever happen, and people are assuming just because Gaga did it before that she will always do it. Anything over 300k is GREAT in terms of sales in this market. Also, why are they predicting sales for an album that doesn't come out until November. They haven't seen how it's going to sell during it's first few days yet, and pre-orders tell them absolutely NOTHING about first week sales besides it's current pre-order numbers. How anyone could accurately predict first week numbers without it being a lucky guess is beyond me. HDD should never make predictions unless they already have one or two days of sales happening.
I think they are overreaching... just like they predicted 400k debut for Applause and we all know how that turned out.
I all be surprise if Gaga even sell 300K on her first week.
And she definitely won't sell 1million when it s all said and done based on how her work has been frontloaded lately.

Teenage Dream sold more than Born This Way in the region this 400k is referring to, so don't even try to imply that Gaga is clearly going to destroy Katy. (If we ignore all the album sales Katy got in 2012 she still outsold Born This Way so we can skip over the whole "Re-release/Movie!!11!" argument.)
I think it's really weird that all these records by older artists can't be broken now in terms of sales.. :/

That's not true. Born This Way had outsold Teenage Dream before Complete Confection. It took TD til the summer to catch up.
And Gaga will destroy her in first week sales because she creates more public anticipation and has a more dedicated fanbase.

From what I head TD sold 2.1 million before the re-release and BTW has only sound like 2.2 million in the US. Katy has better sales in the long run so Katy would have outsold Gaga in the end
