Why do humans worship made-up gods? Why do we allow a small number of ourselves to rule over or govern the rest?

We all need someone to look up to in some way. Sometimes people choose to look up to pop stars who reinforce them and interact however indirectly, with them. A pop star is someone who has a huge profile and attracts people who love their style, their persona, and what they stand for. It makes sense they'd have devoted followers.

I stan for Marina because she's like a successful (well, sort of) and pretty version of me. So maybe we stan for them because we see in them something we want to be.

The questions is then: What is the outcome? What do you get out of stanning for Marina? Does it make your life better in some way? Does it bring you closer to your life goals(if you have goals) or do you live with no purpose and goals at all?

I don't worship them, I like their music and that's it.
