The districts are randomly assigned and just show where you came from (like in the books). As for your gameplay to have little to no impact on the game - the only thing you really have to consider is if you want to work with your district partner or not. They're kind of starting off points for possible alliances, but the alliance making seems to be done and set at this point.
Then there are the 6 sections of the ATRL Arena you'll be playing in. Each Night you choose ONE section to either hunt in or hide in and PM it to me. From there, I compare everyone's actions - if someone is hunting you in the section you're in, you have a chance of dying or being injured. If you are hunting someone but they aren't in that section, they remain safe.

Right now you you're in Alliance 3. If you want to change, and Alliance 1 is ok with having you, then sure.
However, I will say this - being in a big alliance has advantages (numbers, for example) but also has some real disadvantages as the game progresses...it's up to you!
