I mean, I knew whatever her lead single was, it would smash the chart, but I was nervous for Katy as she would face fierce competition with her release schedule, plus she came off from a HUGE era, and she might not live up to expectation.

However, everything went beyond my expectation!!! Roar did so well on iTunes, dethroning the biggest hit of 2013 in like a half-day, then fending its throne against big releases from Gaga, Miley & Eminem (for now

Plus, apparently, the critics like Roar as well. Her performance at VMA was also the highlight in several reviews of the award show!!!

Did you expect everything to go like this for the Queen?

I'm surprised how positive the critics were toward her VMA performance but then I realized this is her "honeymoon" period that all pop girls have experienced.

How so?

If anything, Teenage Dream was her "honeymoon" period. She's not weird like Gaga and off-putting. She is already considered sexy and boys love her boobs; she's just not as in your face as Rihanna, Britney or Christina when they "evolved" so she doesn't have to go through that - like what can she do to polarize anyone? She is literally the poster child of American pop. Her team is impeccable.

She said she was going to go "dark" so I had my concerns she was going to follow the footsteps of pop girls who came before her on their follow up to a big album and alienate a big part of her audience that she had just gained
