While I was watching it I knew the criticism and backlash Miley was going to receive was going to heavily outweigh that of Robin. He is a man.

Because anything that could be said about Thicke has already been said before. And it's not like Robin Thicke's stans (if there are any) are bragging about him being "iconic" or "trend-setting" for acting like a grotesque pimp on stage.

Whereas Miley Cyrus is clearly attention whoring and publicly making a fool of herself for sales and her fans here act like she's the next Madonna...

**** shaming, sexism, rape culture. It's okay for men, but not the women that are doing whatever it is WITH men. It's just like the whole calling a girl a **** for having sex but saying a guy is a real "man" and all that BS when he has sex. It's almost as if girls aren't allowed to have sex. Who are guys supposed to **** then? Other guys? Oh wait, that's not allowed either That being said, the whole performance was still really bad.

I understand what some people are saying, but there is an inherent double standard in EVERYTHING.

If Robin were to wear tight spandex with his ass cheeks hanging out grinding on miley, he would not be considered a "****" or anything Miley has been labeled as. He would have been labeled as GAY.

That's the nature of the difference between gender labeling. Robin played the role of the straight sexy guy and Miley played the role of the sexy girl, albeit she overdid it a bit.

Now, I'm wondering what will happen if someone asks Thicke about the VMA performance. Is he gonna man up and say, yeah, we rehearsed it, or try to throw her under the bus like Justin did Janet after Nipplegate.

but it bothers me that people place all the blame of this performance on miley, and i can't help but feel that part of that has to do with her being a female. there is a plethora of other reasons that influence her receiving backlash where robin has not, but it's the mentality that he is somehow less responsible than she is - which Llewellyn supported - that seems to come up frequently and i, personally, believe that she gets more of the blame because she's a female.
