Is anyone else over these Michael impersonations?
I love Michael, I recognized his impact & talent and have no problem with artists paying tribute or showing that they were inspired by him. But how many artists and how many tributes are we going to see dedicated to this man? I'm rather tired of IT. There are other important legends to mimic.
Am I the only one who feels this way?

MJ had such an impact and there's no one with such an impact that the male artists can look up to ( yeah Prince and James Brown are big, but not as MJ, let's be honest) MJ worked on music and the visuals supporting it, there's been no other male artist who did that and, as I've said, had MJ's impact. The female artists are different, since they cared about the image much more, and so we've got Madonna clones, Janet clones, Cher etc etc

Those other legends aren't blueprints for POP music....

Nope.
Michael has had a ton of impact, but he is not the ONLY male artist these male can look up to. That's like saying Michael is the end-all be-all of music. Not trying to say what these males should look up, too - but this music scene has become more about who can do the best Michael Jackson impersonation/karaoke than anything else. No wonder why females are getting more attention than solo males in pop. When you've seen one, you've seen them all.

I hate it with a passion too. There are so many other legends to steal from anyway- Elvis, Bob Marley, Sting, The Beatles, Prince etc.
Why all these guys insist on recycling Michael's stuff is beyond me.

I wonder why people would impersonate a mentally challenged pedophile.

I've been saying this for a long while, I can't stand the Michael Jackson impersonations.
I get the desire to replicate someone you love, but if it is already being overdone, why further it. I mean we have Usher, JT, Chris Brown, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Ne-Yo, Jason Derulo, the list keeps going.
It's not interesting at all to me. You're not being your own artist, and that bores me. There is more to performing than a fedora, and MJ style poses.

I give Bruno Mars his props. While he has clearly shown his love for Michael, he has also shown how cultured he is about other types of artists, while adding his own 'sappy'/'lubby dubby' twist to it.
Sting to Prince to Elvis to Bob Marley to other types of artists... His whole act isn't just Michael or mostly Michael.
There's a reason why he is the most successful male artist out right now.

I don't mind tributes, but someones career shouldn't be one big tribute to him.
Like Chris Browns video's, dance moves, performances are one big tribute act to Michael, while performers like Beyoncé just draw inspiration from him and give it their own twist.

I dunno why they're trying. There are more interesting people to emulate. I guess it's because MJ's whole thing was easily digestible and it's become a bit generic these days.

Yes. There are more interesting artists (at least at this point) to emulate.

True. I mean, there are much better people out there to impersonate.

Were there any recently? I feel like the onslaught over the past few years was a result of (a) pure mourning, respect, etc. and (b) a feeling that it was the "right" thing to do after the world demonized him for two decades.

It was going on before he died.
Look at the R&B scene when Usher was a thing.
Usher, Ne-Yo, Omarion, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake and even Mario.
Now the pop scene - Justin Timberlake (still doing it after all these years ), Justin Bieber (I got something for his clone Austin Mahone), Jason DeRulo, Chris Brown, and I'm sure there are others.
I wish they would just do something else, or just go away.

I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOREVER.
I'm so tired of everyone paying tribute to Michael Jackson. Every single male singer/dancer does the same b-boy routine with the MJ moonwalk and the chitlin circuit shuffle thrown in it's sickening.
