With that plus the boxing motif, did anyone else get some crazy Dirrty-era Christina Aguilera recall from when she performed on (we wanna say) her 2002 episode of MTV's "Diary"?

Yeah, she was probably a bit inspired by Christina's performance from 11 years ago. Madonna Hard Candy too, I think? They all inspire each other. I can't recall the JLo performance atm.
Katy isn't running around screaming that she's the freshest person, most inspired, original artist ever on the Pop scene, so it's just nice/nostalgic to see this kind of thing happen.
There really isn't a problem with it, she still made it her own, go Katy!!
I can see some Madonna and Xtina stuff in there but poorly executed of course.

Christina sang live. MTV dubbed the performance, just like ABC did during BMA's. She was vocally on point back then so she didn't need those kind of tricks.
