Should Over-Sexualized Performances Be Censored/Banned?
After watching Miley and Robin's VMA performance it reminded me of superbowl boobiegate. During the performance, Miley stripped down to just a bra and panties, rubbed Robin's crotch MULTIPLE times and pretended to be ****ed by him...She's 20 and engaged, and Robin is 36 and married. Is this appropriate for such a young audience?
Nope the VMA's have never been for children imo, I feel that teenagers can handle that type of content. As they are more mature and educated with sexual themes in it. All in all I don't even think the performance was that bad if anything it was too try hard and messy. But that's just how I see it

The age of teenagers are 10-19. I think that 16+ is okay, but 10 is just too young

yes i know they're both of age
Unless it's an award show specifically for children, no.
Miley's performance was bad not because it was sexual, but because it was basic and the definition of try-hard. I felt so much second-hand embarrassment for her.
And the outrage over Janet's Superbowl performance is the biggest overreaction I have ever seen.

I agree
No teens to me are 13 plus which I think if their parent's allowed them to watch this content isn't very harmful. 10 year olds are still children, and 11-12 year olds are preteens. The prettens and children are not the demographics for this program and has never been, it's been established ever since madonna rolled around in the wedding dress back in the 80's. The performance albeit sexual was suitable for the age demographic they target 14-15 plus, and this is no different than what the average teen watches in a pg13 or rated r film.
Not in this case, it was on at 9-11:30 PM, not 5 in the afternoon. There should be less censoring after a certain time of night. Preteens shouldn't be watching MTV that late at night on a Sunday anyway.
I don't think blanket censorship is the answer. Sex is a normal part of being human, and I think there is nothing wrong with musicians using their art to explore those feelings. That being said, Miley/Robin's performance was just...uncomfortable. It felt very child molester-ish and I do think whoever was in charge of clearing the performances shouldn't have allowed that to air. There's a difference between sexual empowerment and what appears to be staged pedophilia.
