Yes, but the longevity of a song in the top 10 is also a factor in what makes a song a hit. Like I don't consider a song that spends one week in the top 10 a "top 10 hit"
Nope.
I wouldn't call Judas or Skyscraper hits even though they went top 10 because they had little to no longevity, but I'd call Blown Away a hit and it peaked at #20.
Did Blown Away sell almost 2 million like Skyscraper? I'm sorry, that's wrong. Blown Away is not a hit, it is a moderate one.
If the track debuts in the top 10 in its debut week because of hype sales, and then proceeds to plummet down the chart in following weeks failing to return to the top 10 at a later date, then no. I wouldn't say that song was a hit regardless of its early top 10 peak.
If the track climbs into the top 10 gradually, or debuts in the top 10 and manages to stay there, then I'd consider it a hit.
Chart posotions don't determine what a hit is
For example, Don't Speak by No Doubt never charted, yet it was a huge hit
There are song that go #1, but barely sell 1m copies, while other song don't go Top 20 but cross 2xplatinum
It all comes down to the sales, radio airplay and, nowadays, YT views.
