Well, I don't have any friends to instigate anything or to be a peacemaker, tbh. To answer the OP, I'm more a peacemaker. I'd try to diffuse the situation.

Instigator. I love a good argument sometimes, I honestly don't think it's that bad. If something annoys me I have no issue making drama. And if drama occurs elsewhere I'm not the type to stop it.
