Poll: Is "Applause" only being dragged because it's Gaga?
View Poll Results: Is the stan world overreacting?

Of course - a #6 debut would not be dragged at all if this were Katy, Rihanna, etc.

Not at all. #6 in week one is terrible, shameful, and career-ending. Lady Gaga is a flop.

It's not being dragged its being praised. It's only being dragged by pressed stans on ATRL who are insecure with their own fav, don't mind them just bop to our new smash hit

Unless "Die Young" debuted at #2, then don't come for "Applause"'s #6 debut.

Except the fact that nobody expects anything EXTRAORDINARY from her, apart from her monsters. Her music is basic pop music, nothing more. (but go on, exaggerate it as much as you want to) And it's definitely nothing more spectacular than what the other pop girls release.
And by the way, Applause is just a typical Lady Gaga song. It's not like it's worse or riskier or different in any way from her past work.

Exactly. Wasn't she the QUEEN OF POP and the universe and above all the "lessors"? How come this is happening then?

No, it would be the same for any artist and fanbase who hyped a debut single to those heights but resulted in an embarrassing underperformance.

Well, you have to look at it this way. Gaga fans would be dragging the song if it were by anyone else but Gaga.

How hypocritical of you to say, you guys brought this upon yourselves and now you're paying the price..
Maybe RIGHT NOW you guys will hopefully get down off your high horses and remain humble.

A #6 debut is great for any artist, but Lady GaGa isn't seen as any artist. By bloggers, music critics, and her fans she is seen as this untouchable Pop artist who's "weave" cannot be touched.
When the first promo picture for ARTPOP was released music sites and Little Monsters all over-hyped her return calling it a revolution for Pop music and talking about how no one was ready for her slaying. Her, as well as her fans over-hyped the song putting all these theories and rumors about Warhol, Pop culture, art, and what not. They over-predidcted her sales figures and claming it would debut at #1.
Then when Applause was released, everyone saw what it was, a mediocre Pop song that didn't blow anyone away like they thought it would. Followed by her sales numbers which are poor for someone like Lady GaGa.
The song did not meet the expectations and predictions that many people had, not just the Little Monsters, but bloggers, and herself. By those standards the song is considered under-performing and could be labeled as a "flop".
The monsters need to just admit that they over-hyped her and over-estimated her "power" which doesn't seem like it considering we get a new thread trying to justify "Applause".

!!!
The over-aggressive monsters, (treating other artists and their bases like **** and acting as if Gaga is GOD, ARTISTIC GENIUS and what else, while sending death threats), the absolute delusion, arrogance, pretentiousness and the over-hyping and over-estimating from both Gaga herself and monsters - all of this is what led to that reaction from the other fan bases and all these threads.
All that said though, it's nothing bad, it's not a "flop", nor it's something career-ending, it's still a success, but it's also a proof that Gaga is nowhere as successful as her delusional monsters think and that she's definitely not above the other girls.
So monsters, please, stop the hypocrisy now and forever!

Charts the charts that put Tik Tok to #1 and blocked Bad Romance, my name should have anything to do with this forum, it's not my fault Little Monsters don't like Gaga flopping is it? I hear you drag Ke$ha all the time and do you know what I'm glad it's Gaga turn, you hype gaga as the queen of pop, no she isn't she is just another Popstar she's nothing special. Get over it

lol it's been almost 4 years and that's STILL the only ammunition you or any of your fellow stans have
And that's not even a real drag seeing as "Tik Tok" didn't stop "Bad Romance" from being a hit. but ok.

Yes, because people had high expectations with Gaga. Applause is not a bad song, it's a let down though.

I's because this song is mehh and not a lead single worthy. #6 for Lady GaGa and her huge fanbase is a flop, I believe.

To be honest, if this song did not belong to Gaga, it wouldn't be receiving anywhere near the amount of airplay and attention. It would probably be confined to playing at Express stores.
The song is not that great, especially for a lead single, so she's fortunate that it's doing reasonably well.
