I think finding a way to make SYG more selective is the only way to go - throw out the fools who don't know how to act (both those making the ~offensive!~ comments and the ones overreacting to them) and leave it for the crowd Lipton mentioned who know how to use it for its original purpose.

Resulting in a smaller, more focused thread that's easier to use and easier to moderate.

Yes, SYG is coming back with heavy moderation at a date to be determined.

Why are people so obsessed with highlighting a SINGLE incident for the closure. This had been progressing for a while.

Last night was only the final straw, but we had already been unhappy with SYG before this. It was okay overall because Kworb and I were able to handle the thread and not allow it to spill over.

That's become impossible with the amount of traffic and new members. We have other things to be bothered with.

IMO I think too many people on here take SYG to heart, if you can't handle it and are offended by some of the things said in it then don't enter, it's really not that hard or serious. Unless it's personal insults of course.

It will be opened after discussion and most likely new policies. The spam in HQ is just useless and annoying. We get it.

But they know more about the way the site works with warnings.
