Not anymore.
During my HS years, I was. I felt that I had to hide it. Homophobia in the African-American community is very high, and I wasn't trying to chance/risk any backlash or anything. Once I went off to college (a very liberal school), I slowly came out.
I'd say I've been out for a good 5-7 years now.
